Originally born in Lima, Peru, Gonzalo Ramella now resides in Leesburg, Virginia with his family. His journey in soccer began as a player at the professional level before transitioning into a coaching career built around player development, high-performance environments, and long-term athlete growth.

Gonzalo’s coaching career has been defined by progressive leadership roles across top youth soccer platforms in the United States. He is currently with Northern Virginia Alliance, where he serves as Boys Academy Director and Director of College Pathway, while also leading as Head Coach for the U17 and U19 Boys teams competing in the MLS NEXT Homegrown Mid Atlantic Conference. In this role, he oversees player development across the academy structure while guiding athletes through the college recruitment pathway and instilling a forward thinking mindset with his staff and players alike.

Prior to this, Gonzalo worked with D.C. United Academy, serving as Head Coach for the U14 Boys team, where he contributed to developing players within one of the top professional academy environments in the country.

From 2013 to 2022, Gonzalo was a key figure at Alexandria Soccer Association, where he served as Academy Manager and Head Coach of the U13 Boys MLS NEXT team. During his tenure, he played an integral role in building and structuring academy pathways while developing players in a competitive MLS NEXT environment.

Across all his coaching roles, Gonzalo has consistently focused on building environments that prioritize technical excellence, tactical understanding, and personal growth. His coaching philosophy is rooted in long-term player development, preparing athletes not only for the next level in soccer but also for success beyond the game.

Gonzalo holds coaching licenses from CONCACAF, CONMEBOL and UEFA, reflecting his commitment to continuous education and high-performance coaching standards.
